The City of Trois-Rivières is a Quebec municipality that manages a large real estate portfolio, consisting of administrative, industrial, and municipal buildings. As part of its climate commitments and energy transition, the City aims to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions associated with operating its buildings, while optimizing the energy costs of its infrastructure.
Challenges and objectives
As part of its climate strategy, the City of Trois-Rivières commissioned E’nergys to analyze the potential for reducing greenhouse gas emissions from several municipal buildings.
The objective was to identify concrete measures enabling the municipality to reduce its emissions, while optimizing the energy expenditures associated with its buildings. The approach also aimed to provide the City with a clear view of the actions to prioritize to support its energy transition.

Our solution
We conducted a detailed energy analysis of the targeted real estate portfolio to identify opportunities to reduce emissions and improve energy performance.
The work included, in particular:
Energy analysis of municipal buildings
Identification and assessment of energy-efficiency measures
Modeling of GHG emissions reduction scenarios (15%, 30%, 40%, and 50%)
Prioritization of measures based on their energy and environmental impact
Development of a decarbonization plan for the municipal real estate portfolio
Results achieved

Identification of a portfolio of energy and decarbonization projects
The study identified 31 energy-efficiency and decarbonization measures.
Strategic vision for the energy transition
The City now has a structured GHG reduction plan with different reduction scenarios, helping guide investment decisions and energy planning.
